A 19 year old girl in Vallejo, CA was arrested before giving birth. Police found a car that was connected to a robbery, which police connected to the girl. However, after making the connection, they arrested a 16 year old who they also suspected of the robbery. I feel the cops shouldn’t have taken her while she was going into labor and they should have made a positive identification on who the robber actually was.
I feel that the police shouldn’t have even thought about arresting her while she was going into labor. That could have caused health problems for both the baby and mother. Before arresting, they should have at lease escorted her to the hospital, and then later asked what happened. Not only did they make a connection to the robbery for the 19 year old, they convicted a 16 year old also. I feel they should have made a positive match to who committed the crime, not just arrested whoever comes walking out of the house, especially finding out the girl was pregnant. Knowing which of the two committed the crime would make it better for the pregnant mother. If she didn’t do the crime, all they’re doing is putting the baby through stress.
Police recently made a connection to a robbery with a girl who was pregnant. When police found a car, while matched the description of the car found at the crime scene, and the girl walked out of the house, she was about to give birth. Not only did they arrest her, they connected a 16 year old to the robbery. I feel they shouldn’t have arrested her because she needed to go to the hospital right then and there. Also, they should have made sure she was the suspect and not assumed she was the robber just by the car that was there. Taking her to the hospital and the interrogating her would have helped the situation. In this situation we learned that it is not smart to make assumptions based on the little information you may have.

i think that derek tullis did a fabulous job on this article. i agree with him one hundred precent the cops were being unfair and inhuman when the pregnant women was arrested and sent to jail. i think that the cops should have taken more time to figure out who the criminal was for sure. if the pregnant lady was ready to have the baby i think that the cops could have handled it in a more productive way. such as escorting the lady to the hospital to have the baby and then handle the situation at a more appropriate way while still not allowing her to flee to mexico.

I have very mixed feelings about this whole situation. In a way I think that the police should have arrested her right off the back. If she committed the crime then she should have to pay the price wether she is pregnant, going into labor or not. Because if and when she did have the baby in the end she would have still committed the crime and nothing would have changed. but in another light i think that the police should have given er a chance to give birth then arrest her. the baby could suffer fro health problems if not birthed in a proper environment. then after she gave birth in the hospital she could have ben putting into custody.

I think that this article is very well written. It looks like it was well thought out and planned and like the writer spent a lot of time on it. However I disagree with the writers opinion because any criminal that does anything wrong should be punished for what they did no matter what the circumastances. They will take care of any medical needs that person requires during his or her time spent in oprison or jail or wherever he or she goes.

I like this article. It was very well written with opinions that aren’t biased. I think that the police could have taken that a women going into labor, should go into labor regardless of the crime. They could have waited until after to arrest her. I agree with the article and I enjoyed learning about the event.
