Have a lot of leftover Halloween candy? Don’t try to eat it all because you know you can’t, that’s just a cavity waiting to happen. Maybe you bought one bag too many this year. These are all post Halloween issues. There are new and creative ways to rid yourself of all that candy.
You could always share with those who didn’t go trick or treating. Take away that sadness they felt while being candy-less on Halloween. In a more formal way, save the candy and make gift bags to give away for Thanksgiving. Are your friends too full of candy? Toss out the candy, save the wrappers, and make a mural.
It is the giving season, maybe you would benefit from doing what many locals have discovered. Donate your candy to Operation gratitude. This organization sends candy to the troops overseas. You can send over a little happiness to the troops which will remind them that they aren’t forgotten. Many people have sent in their donations. The shipping date is December 5th so hurry if you want to get your donations in. So, if you’re thinking about donating, visit www.OperationGratitude.com. Every little Reese’s™ and Snicker’s™ counts.
Maybe you want to make a little profit off of your candy. Dentists in the Sacramento area will purchase your candy! Children’s Choice dental office gives away $2 per pound of candy donated, if your school donates as a whole, then $2 will be donated to your school! Everyone likes a little money sometimes.
If you’re under a mound of candy, just get into the giving spirit a little early. There are kids all over the area who didn’t get the experience of shoveling candy into their mouths on Halloween. Make them happy and float a couple pieces their way. You can be their personal candy fairy. Everyone likes them, right?

I think donating your candy is a great idea that is a benefit to the giver and the receiver. There’s always the candy that you don’t want, so why just throw it away? Donating makes more sense than just throwing it away. I agree with sending it to the troops, because they get to enjoy the candy and you get to feel good. Or selling the candy to your dentist is smart, this way you get to have some money and your dentist will be happy you won’t be eating it, making your next visit a bit easier for them. I think doing something else to help others with your extra candy is a smart idea!
