On May 8th, 2004, Juan Manuel Marquez and Manny Pacquiao fought each other for the first time. Many people wanted to see them fight, mostly because Juan Manuel Marquez was the best Mexican fighter and Manny Pacquiao was the best Filipino fighter. So everyone wanted to show each other that their race makes better fighters. This article is important to the students of Cosumnes Oaks High School because Cosumnes Oaks has students of both these nationalities at this school. Since the fight was a draw, many Mexicans were angry because in their eyes, Marquez clearly won. They fought again on March 15th, 2008, but this time Manny Pacquiao came up on top. This time, all of Marquez’s fans were even angrier because it was clear that Marquez beat Pacquiao this time, as well as the first time, but the judges saw it different so they gave it to Manny Pacquiao. This is important to the students of Cosumnes Oaks High School, because many Mexicans are made fun of and told that their race are bad fighters just because Pacquiao beat Marquez twice, when in reality Marquez beat Pacquiao twice.
In the first fight between Marquez and Pacquiao that ended up in a draw, what you have to realize is that Marquez was knocked down three times in the first round. Manny Pacquiao won the first round then Marquez won the next eleven, and the fight ended up a draw! This shows that Marquez showed determination and endurance as he fired back at his challenger, landing numerous combinations and counter punches, stunning Pacquiao during the middle of the fight. The fight continued being very exciting and keeping the fans on their feet. A lot of people saw the fight going to Marquez because they saw how he fought back after being knocked down three times. The fight was nominated “The fight of the Year” by the 2004 Boxing Writers Association of America (BWAA). The second fight overall was a very good fight, and at the end everyone saw Marquez winning the fight, but the judges gave it to Manny Pacquiao. Marquez asked Pacquiao for a third fight but he said no. So that shows you that Pacquiao knows what Marquez can do, and Pacquiao is scared of how good a fighter Marquez is.
Overall, both fights were very good, possibly two of the best fights I have ever seen. The first fight was a very good fight and named the best fight of 2004. The second fight was also very good. I’ve learned a lot of things about these fights, but the most important thing that I learned is that they’re both good fighters. I think that Marques is a better fighter because he showed determination and endurance after being knocked down three times. Who do you think is better? Please comment on my article and let me know!

Really? I’ve never heard of that, and sorry, Manny clearly took this fight.

It is obvious that Manny won. Who cares who is better at fighting because it doesnt matter. Manny only said no because he knew he was going to win.

No. Manny Pacquiao clearly won. And No, I’m not saying this just because I’m Filipino.

The thing is that everyone in our community will root for Pacquiao because of there race. People don’t actually see the fight, they go by favorites which is disappointing, btw, Marquez CLEARLY! won both fights. and if you had any sense of boxing, you would agree.

i like both fighters but people dont know why people in boxing get robbed. it due to the millions of dollers that it generates in (THE USA). in this case both fighters come from different places of the earth but manny Pacquiao is more popular in the U.S than juan manuel. more people will pay more money to watch manny Pacquiao than JMM or an UNDEFEATED fighter. the media doesnt really care about the boxers in boxing just of how the media sees him all they really care is about the MONEY.i was shocked how in the mid rounds of what the leaderman score card showed something like JMM landing 75 punches and Manny landing 76! when manny only really landing 51 the 12 round was proof that JMM was robbed. you look at clottley and mosley who was robbed by miguel cotto why becuse at that point of his caree he was undefeated and becoming popular among boxing fan all over the world. you ever hweard the term boxing is a dirty game well this why MONEY. see i like both fighter so you cant say im biast. but there alot of fake boxing fans out there who only watch boxing hightlights or the 1st and last round saying they saw the fight when the missed out on what realy happend.
