The night of October 24th, was Richmond High School’s Homecoming dance, a night that all Richmond High School students were looking forward to. But for one young girl, and numerous amounts of boys aging from 15 to 21, this was a night they would never forget. After the dance, the girl was supposed to meet her dad. Instead, she went off with a friend to drink alcohol with a couple of other people. Little did she know they were planning on taking advantage of her once she got drunk. After she was drinking who knows how many alcohol beverages, the boys gang-raped her. Gang-rape means when two or more people are involved in rape. Cosumnes Oaks students should care about this article because the gang rape happened right next to the school campus, and on a night everyone looks forward to. You would think there would be campus supervisors and parent volunteers who would be looking out for students. But where were they when all of this happened? Cosumnes Oaks students should care about this article because what if you were that girl? Or what if you were the boys who gang-raped her? Could you live with yourself?
A month after the incident happened, parents, students, and people of the community gathered and marched from Richmond High School to nearby Wendell Park, rallying against violence against women. About 200 people showed up to support the 16 years old that got raped. People who marched said it’s not only about the Richmond youth; it’s also about every other high school student and all young people across the nation. Young students should realize that just because you’re at school or at home or nay where else you feel safe, you should always be careful of your surroundings. You will never know what may happen to you. Just like that one 16 years old Richmond High School student didn’t know she was going to get raped on Homecoming night. She thought she was going to be safe just because there were campus supervisors
Cosumnes Oaks students should care about this article because it may happen to them. The Richmond High School 16 year old girl student didn’t know what was going to happen that night. She didn’t wake up that day and realize that at 11 pm she was going to get raped. The Richmond community isn’t just a ghetto community that everybody makes it out to be. People in the community actually care about what happened to this young girl. They rallied for her, marched for her, and protested for her.

The girl that got raped is plain out stupid! Why would she go get drunk with her friend, when she knew she was supposed to meet up with her dad? And I really wonder where the adults were at this time. Aren’t there suppose to be chaperones at these school functions? Usually there are. And her dad could have walked around the campus looking for his daughter. She didn’t show up when she was told to. She went off doing the dumbest thing possible, and it ended up getting out of control. I don’t know how these gang-bangers could live with themselves! They did something horrible to a girl, and didn’t even care.

This story grabbed my attention really quick! I was so mad because at my old high school we were not allowed to have school dances held at the school due to lack of security and chaperons. I am somewhat disappointed at the young 16 year old because she made that decision on her own to go forth and drink but hey, I wasn’t a saint either! Everyone on this site who replies to this article knows they have had an experience where they hopped in the back seat for a joy ride. But mainly I am very angry and disappointed at the guys who had the nerve to do this horrible crime. I hope all of them are charged as adults and do time in the over-crowded state penitentiary, and end up getting raped repeatedly so they know the torment their victim went through, how she is going to have to live with it for the rest of her life, and how when she cimbs into that bathtub to take a shower or whatever, how much she is going to be disgusted with her body.
